Hey everyone. My name is Adrienne Chancey. I live in Tennessee. I am a special education teacher for Cleveland City Schools. It is my dream job. I teach students who have a wide range of disabilities. I teach grades K-1. I have been in the field of education for nearly 9 years, but been a lead teacher for 4. I have been married to my husband, Bryan, for almost 8 years. He is a sheriff's deputy on patrol. We are in the process of buying a family farm. We have 4 horses, 5 dogs, and 8 cats. We do a lot of animal rescue. The farm is really just for our horses and animals to run. We enjoy pretty much anything outdoors like fishing, camping, four-wheeling. We spend a lot of time with family and friends. I am in my last semester here at Liberty. I will graduate either early winter or fall with my Master's in Teaching and Leadership. I have enjoyed my time at Liberty. I look forward to learning from everyone in this Educational Technology class as we use technology daily with my students in the classroom.
Hi Adrienne! It is good to be able to meet you and learn a little bit about you and your family. I have also been teaching for 9 years (in a Christian school), and my husband and I have been married for 8 years as well. And my mom is a teacher too. Like you, my husband and I also share many of the same interests that you mentioned, especially being outside and camping… we have tried fishing a little but don’t have enough patience I guess. We also just had a home change. We live in the city but were able to buy a house on one of the branches of the Elizabeth River and it has been beautiful living on the water. I have been to Tennessee many times over the last few years since my brother has moved there and enjoy visiting around your state. I have a two more classes after this one when I will finish the MEd teaching and Learning program as well. Needless to say, I am ready to be finished; but unsure of whether I want to pursue any further. I commend you on your teaching profession. It sounds very challenging, yet I am sure very rewarding at the same time and am happy that you have found your niche. Good luck on the buying process for a farm. It sounds very exciting. Wish you well in this class, Casie
Hi Adrienne, Thank you for sharing with us a little bit about your journey and life this far. I am also a special education teacher. I teach students, in grades 2-4. They have a variety of abilities and disabilities, mostly with an intellectual disability. I am getting married this fall to a man who works in a neighboring school district in an autistic support classroom. I truly enjoy teaching, especially teaching students with special needs. I grew up on a farm and can relate to some of your hobbies! I also enjoy being outside, and spending time with family and friends. Great to meet you!
Congratulations with your degree almost being complete. I have a special place in my heart for special needs children. I also have the upmost respect for individuals who care for special needs children. I know you honestly do it for the love of children and not the income. There is a saying about teachers...WE DO IT FOR THE OUTCOME NOT THE INCOME!
Welcome, Adrienne! You are a very busy lady! A family, teaching, animal rescue, and a farm....exciting! I loved teaching kindergarten. There's a lot of truth to the poem by Robert Fulghum. I'm looking forward to working with you this semester. Perhaps you can weave assistive technology into your technology plan.
